More PR I love, and this time it’s by KFC

Ok, so I’m a bit behind with this, but since I’m treating this blog as my scrapbook, I couldn’t let it be without one of my FAVOURITE PR stunts from last year.

In order to publicise their new grilled menu range, KFC began a “lobbying” campaign directed at the UN for the fictional Grilled Nation to be accepted as a member state - the best part of which saw an actor posing as Colonel Sanders tricking his way into the UN and having his picture taken with Ali Treki - the President of the UN General Assembly. See The Telegraph’s article for more info.

As you would imagine, the fact that the actor managed to get past the supposedly highest, most comprehensive security caused absolute outrage and this went global, causing heaps of hype amongst news outlets, bloggers and the like. Brilliant! KFC ended up getting great coverage for their new menu, and they really injected some strong personality into their brand.
